Retiring At 21 Is The Ultimate Dream In Life
Posted on March 13th, 2008 by Jason under Reviews
Paid review requests are like buses… you don’t get any of them for ages, and the BAM! seven come along at once. Don’t worry guys… I won’t be doing all seven, however you’ll see a couple more over the next few weeks.
For me, this is the ultimate dream - retiring early in life. When I say early, I mean earlier that thirty - you’re still young enough that you can undertake in extreme activities. Obviously, if I made enough cash I’d stop worrying about University and stuff now - sure, I’d go, to meet up with friends but the academic side of it, not important. Michael Dunlop started, and has asked for a review to get his website out there; I happily agreed, as Retire @ 21 is one kick ass website for all the internet entrepreneurs out there
The website focus is exactly as its domain states - helping people retire at 21. Insane! you might have said, but in modern times, especially on the Internet where everyone is given an equal chance, and Retire @ 21 has the proof to show that it is indeed possible.
The most interesting and extremely motivating part of the website is its interviews, which contains a stellar list of those doing it (that is, making money online) - as far as I can see, all of them are below thirty.
The list is pretty in depth - some of the names on there are Leo Babauta, at Zenhabits (a website with more than 40,000 RSS subscribers), Yaro Starak, the blogging genius over at Entrepreneurs Journey, Tyler Cruz of TylerCruz.Com, Matt Mickiewicz and Matt Wegrzyn, the owners of Sitepoint and Bodis respectively… there are also quite a few with normal teenagers of a similar age to me… the only difference is that some of them are banking more than a million a year.
Although the title may seem discriminating, in truth Retire @ 21 is aimed to help all entrepreneurs online make money… it has tips and tricks that everyone can use, and for an example of this just take a look at its Make Money Online page or some of its recent articles. As it says, it wants to help people retire before they have to get a hip replacement, although even if you’d already had one you can use the tips and tricks there to make some money.
Critisism - I do this in all my reviews, as I hope to help those that purchase them, rather than going on with hundreds and hundreds of words of praise; ultimately, reviews should help a website owner in more ways than just exposure and traffic.
Personally, I love the website design, so there’s nothing wrong with that; the content is pretty clean too. The issue I have with the promotion of the website - at the moment, it only has 220 or so RSS subscribers, which is less than me… despite being around for much longer, and having more ‘wow factor’ (ie bigger numbers with regards to earning online
). Perhaps this review is the start of promotion, and Michael’s promised me he has some pretty big plans over the next few weeks to get the website pimping… we’ll see
Another thing I have an issue with is the unmasked affiliate links - the most of the people that will be visiting the website are fellow webmasters, and even those that aren’t prefer not clicking on them. Masking affiliate links, even into something like /recommends/affiliatecompany would IMO generate a lot more signups - both free and paid.
Those two things are the only problems I have with the website; the first is in the middle of being rectified, the second should be fairly easy to fix. Apart from that, I’ve found the website an interesting resource for entrepreneurs, and have added it to my feed reader - you can sign up here if you find inspirational interviews like the above mentioned few interesting
Another thing that the website has are its forums, which are dead at the moment but are going to be promoted heavily; Michael wasn’t lying when he told me some of the biggest names around there - you guys heard of Carl Ocab (No1 for ‘make money online’ in Google), Dean Hunt (buzz marketer), Josh Buckley (sold Menewsha.com for xx,xxx)? They’re all there, along with a few names I can’t disclose at the moment; there’s also Michael himself, and of course yours truly
I joined after seeing the stellar list that was also on it; there are quite a few big names on there, some of whom are banking some serious cash. I’d suggest anyone else looking for tips on making money online join as well, as you put so many people starring at making money online in the same place and a couple of them are going to reveal accidental secrets that you can use to your advantage
I really like the website, and hope you guys do too; at the moment, there’s not much wrong with it. With experienced hands behind it, and the right buzz factor it could go big; join it now and watch it grow. If you guys have any comments, or even some constructive critisism, just let me know below ![]()

Criticism. Gah. Spelling. How ironic eh?
RSS feed don’t necessarily give an indication of how popular a site is. Sure, sites like Zenhabit have subscribers in the thousands, by blogs on the lower end can easily fake the count. Everything on the net feels so empty - it’s all a numbers game *sigh*
Time to go back to the dream of retiring at 40 after a successful career as a litigation lawyer in some multi-million dollar corporation.

Hi guys,
I am one of the experts that was interviewed by Michael. ref the feed count, the feed is for the blog, which was added VERY recently, there is no feed for the main site. Hence the low number.
The traffic is actually very high, and I know that they have thousands of subscribers via email.

I checked out this website yesterday on a link off of another blog and I gotta say, I really like the content and what they are doing. I think that the whole website plan was a really interesting niche in itself, and the information your get by subscribing is fantastic. Definitely worth checking out, even if (like me) you would never even want to retire so early in life.

Hi Jason
Good work with the review. I see by some other commentors, that they feel that the RSS feed count isn’t an indication as to how popular the site is but if people want to read the daily blog, of that site, surely to sign up to an auto feed would be easier??? anyway I myself am wayyyyy past being able to retire at 21 LOL but I would have to say that I am sort of in semi-retirement but still not made enough money to sit back and enjoy the luxury of never having to work again
Cheers
Misty

It would be pretty awesome to retire at 21 but sadly I got lots of years of work till I can retire.
I think people usually retire at 61 years or something

I’m going to have to spend more time looking around at the site; there seems to be a lot of great info there. I don’t know that I would want to retire at 21. Maybe 25

Retire so young, I know you can do it as long as you post good and earn money.

I’m well beyond 21 now.. but I wouldn’t mind retiring soon. Although at least I can say I make enough money to be comfortable and enjoy my life, which is more than a lot of people can say.
