Success Stories - Let’s Hear Them!
Posted on August 23rd, 2008 by Jason under Daily RamblingA few days ago, I put out something on here about failures… people talked about failures, and how they learned from them, and I shared one of my recent ones.
However, although you need failures - mistakes to learn from - to succeed, talking about how everyone’s screwed up can get depressing. So let’s shake things up, and talk about the opposite
Everyday, I hear some type of success story - be it someone making their first $1 online to someone making their first $1,000 website sale. Both are pretty cool - I remember the first times I did either of those things, and I thought it was cool then and seeing newbies do these kinds of things today… I think it’s cool now
A recent success I had is not even mine, but of a forum I’m involved with - I participate a lot in an Arsenal forum called Goonersweb and recently spoke to the admins about promoting the forum more - anyways, a few days ago they managed to have their first ever contest sponsored, nothing major (a bike) but free stuff is always good - especially if you’ve never had that kind of thing before
I’ve got to cut this post short, as I’m watching the football (soccer) but I’d love to hear some of the successes you guys have had. Feel free to go into detail - hearing about other people doing well, no matter how big or how small is always motivational.
So what successes have you guys had recently? ![]()

I have had some successes with my blog. A spare $500 to $600 a month income. I have flipped 2 bans sites, 1 blog and a game forum. I put the game forum and blog together and had some friends comment on it to get some content.
I have made $1100 flipping so far.
My latest success would be getting free blogs from wordpress.com to host with me and letting me monetize them for half of the revenue.
So far I am profiting from 2 of your posts and the password post tip is coming soon to my pocket. I am putting together a dedicated site for that project.
So keep up the good posts and make me some more money!
BTW… I am also working on pushing your ResellPalace.com content and going to try and flip a few of those too.

Well, I had recently flipped a few domains to make myself a few extra hundred $$$. What was really cool about it though was that the domains were sold the same day I registered them, which is pretty unusual when it comes to domain selling.
I’ve also started to do affiliate marketing. I only started last week, and I’ve already made over over $200. Now I just have to execute other affiliate marketing tips to reach my goal of making at least $100 per day.

I have not had too many failures or successes, I will have some soon though! I guess you could call some of what I’ve done a success, but not a huge success.

Where are you guys flipping your websites? Sitepoint? eBay? Craigslist?
As far as success stories, I have had alot of success with craigslist lately. As some of you know, I am working on my “mainstream” affiliate income to double up my adult income. I plan to do a post soon about my craigslist experiment.

My most successful is my Bid Directory - http://www.bid-directory-uk.co.uk which has returned £600 from £10 investment, and another website that I bought for $30, and has made $150 without me doing a thing in a month.

I first got into making money online through BANS sites. The first two I made were complete failures due to my lack of knowledge about how marketing works. Now, a couple years later, I have 4 successful BANS sites, 3 different blogs, and my newest project a blog that is also an affiliate marketing site (nootropiccentral.com). That site has exploded. If you ask me it’s all about two things niche and knowledge.

A couple of little ’successes’:
1 - Recent Domain flips (just under $400 return on 3 ‘reg fee’ domains I registered) - that was pretty nice.
2 - A chance meeting with someone who wanted a quick web job doing - 18 months later still getting regular work from them and their clients
3- Picking up old books and sports memorabilia cheaply at junk shops and then selling them on for $$$ - see ‘flipping’ works anywhere

What a great idea for a post. I’ve been reading this site for a while and I am horrible at leaving comments. Mostly because I get to the reading part, all of the comments already given would be reiterated if I made on too.
I started my personal site a few years back and have made a few dollars from it but I didn’t want to turn my personal site into a money making machine. (personal choice) So I started creating new sites based around my knowledge and interests and over the past several months they have been paying off well between advertisements and products sold.
The key is really finding a niche you are great with and exploiting it to make some money. Though I am not pulling in a six figure income, the sites all pay for themselves and leave me some playing money each month.
Thanks for all the great posts you make, I appreciate all of them.
I don’t really have anything specific, but my income has been growing steadily every month in 2008 just by diversifying in different niches and traffic sources. I make most my money in adult, but all the same marketing and sales strategies apply.
p.s. wife and I just bought our third house… both quit our day jobs 5 years ago.
