Time For An Entire Revamp…
Posted on February 19th, 2008 by Jason under Daily RamblingNot of the blog, but making money in general. Had a bit of free time, so thought I’d write up a post.
A few of you have seen that I’ve been banned from Digital Point… I’ll be frank with you, because that’s what I want to be on my blog - that’s cut off my income entirely, and made me think about the whole internet marketing game a bit more.
Up till now, I relied almost totally on Digital Point - something that was unsafe, and so it’s proven as I’ve found out the hard way. I followed the rules, and had a solitary infraction to my name but freak occurrences - being banned for a duplicate account that existed before I even knew what Digital Point was - can always happen, and that’s why something I spoke about earlier - diversifying my income is so important.
You see, with Digital Point I knew I could easily make money, but things were also static, and because of it I got lazy - why aim for $3,000 when I could be content with $2,500? I’ll be honest again and state that earnings this month are not up to scratch, mainly because I’ve been on holiday and been busy due to university starting… again, something that I will work on when I’m back in Dubai.
I’ve spoken a lot about getting into affiliate marketing, but I am really going to look into it when I get back - there are people earning hundreds of thousands, if not more dollars a year; I want to be one of them. I signed up for Clickbank yesterday, and of course I do have NeverBlue Ads - I’ve already made a whopping $0.04 off my referral so another 20,000 of you guys and I can retire.
. Seriously though, if you haven’t already, I suggest you do sign up for NBA - it has a multitude of offers you can promote as well as a clean interface to navigate through.
Charity Is Important
Another thing I thought about while I was here (India is not a place for the weak of heart) is all those that cannot afford things that most of us find basic - food, education, heck even drinking water. When was the last time you donated money to someone less fortunate than you? I’m not talking about those idiots on the Internet begging because they’re too lazy to work for it, but those out there, living on the street because they have nowhere else to go.
After thinking about that I decided I would try to do something; nothing major, but ya know as they said - every little bit helps. I will be putting in $1,000 USD of this month’s earnings, or approximately 38,000 rupees in local currency to a charity nearby; I’m also going to be pledging every single cent of profit I make next month to charity. Not a faceless organization, but one that I’ll actually visit and see the people I’m helping. With Digital Point down, I can’t guarantee those earnings will be a lot - I will try my best though
RSS Feed Contest
As you may remember, I’ve entered an RSS feed competition with five other bloggers… anyways, I checked the statistics today, not expecting much as I’ve been out - with a nice little surprise.

Meaning that this blog has officially broken 200 subscribers, not a bad feat at all. I’d like to thank the guest posters - without your quality content, this wouldn’t have happened; anyways, this means that I currently have a +87 increase and although I haven’t checked the other blogs, I believe that puts me in the lead.
I’m looking for an increase of 100 subscribers at least in total; with around ten days left in the month that is definitely possible.
TUK T-Shirts
I spoke to the t-shirt guy and he said that it will cost approximately 300 rupees (slightly less than $10 USD) a shirt to make. I will be meeting him sometime soon; I only have around 3-4 days left in India so everything will need to be done quick. I don’t think they will be produced before I leave, but they will be shipped to Dubai, and I’ll take it from there - I’m going to order around 50 shirts to start off with and expand depending on how popular they are. As is the common phrase on here… we’ll see how it goes
I’ve got to run, so more tomorrow; see you guys later, I guess

What you are doing for the charity is very good. Your earning might still be a lot as long as you have nice blog and good post which you already have.

Good for you! Giving to a good cause is a most noble step! You should definitely take some pictures of your visits. Heck maybe you could setup a charitable website for a good cause? That would be a real humanitarian step.

Your new commitment to charity is very commendable. If only everyone was so giving!

The great thing about charity is that you get way more than you give, and yes that even means monetarily. It always seems to come back.

Hey, cool post. I am interested to know how you make money through DigitalPoint? I am a new member of the forum board, but am unsure how you were able to make money off of the community, please explain this a bit more.

@ David, I haven’t really marketed this blog… It’s time to start.
@ Tom, we’ll see buddy, we’ll see. A lil friendly competition is always good
@ Kyle, I had wanted to setup a website… bought the domain as well. Will try and work on that in a bit, we’ll see.
@ EGK, hopefully the rest of the ‘net will be as easy to earn in. Somehow, I don’t think it will be though
@ Ty, let’s hope so, eh.
@ Jim, it’s the marketplace - easy to sell eBooks, domains, websites and the like.
@ RNHalawi, I definitely will do, thanks.
@ Usman, they said a perma-ban. Day-mn!
@ Daniel, sure.
Good to hear from you, Jason. You are certainly a one of a kind young man. I have a lot respect for the way you handle business and the genuineness of your caring for others.
As far as DP goes, it’s rough that you were banned, but there are many more webmaster forums. The only thing about DP is convenience. You may have to utilize a number of forums rather than having that one-stop shop. I came across a post of yours over at WickedFire. They’re a bit of a crude bunch, but I’ve noticed there aren’t many writers over there. However, you’ll have to find a workaround for e-books as they are not down with them.
You could always open your forums back up. With 200 RSS readers, it seems like you have a good start on a community. Let me know if I can help in anyway.

Glad to see you back Jason. Guest posters certainly kept the flag flying.
It is noble of you to think of charity when the top bloggers/affiliate marketers usually think only about making more money.
DP ban will certainly lead you into thinking out of the box. It is a good
idea to go into affiliate marketing. You can also flip sites make/sell ebooks do all the good things you are currently doing.
TUK can be developed into a brand over a longer period and make your
own forum better than DP
Good luck man! That’s a tough beat. But you’ll rebound.

The shirt price isn’t that high.If you could bargain and make the price go down it would be a lot better
Jim Karter also recommends diversifying of income streams, just in case this could happen.
It is good to diverse your income since anything can go wrong at any given moment. Well, a lesson learned is always a good one. Now you know for the future.
I support you on donating to charity, I have done some charity auctions in which I have sold some items and all the money made was sent to charity.
I thought you would be able to get the T-shirt for $5 in India, but I guess not. Like Trevomanut said, you should attempt at bargaining with the company or person.
