Although I’ve been playing around with affiliate marketing more than I used to over the last month or so, and doing pretty well with it… my opinion will always be that having your own product beats affiliate marketing into the ground.

You see, once you can sell a $1 product, you can sell a $100 product or even a $1000 product (or service… which I’ve done) - it’s just reworking your marketing.

Why keep (usually a maximum of 75%) a percentage of the product… when you can have your own, ready to go product within a week and keep 100%?

I’m not just talking about the internet marketing niche here - I’ve released products that have done reasonably well in various niches, including medical ones.

I do not know a thing about dog training, dealing with yeast infection, forex - yet I’ve still managed to make a decent amount on each one of those niches through products I’ve released under pen names.

The great thing about internet marketing… is that everything can be outsourced. I’ve had products that cost me $50 to create (by hiring a writer off a freelance website) make me $1,000 each… how’s that for a return on investment. By hiring out someone else’s knowledge, I’ve been able to attack niches I know jack all about and make money.

Whenever the word ‘product’ is mentioned, people immediately think ‘eBook’ - however, this is not always the case. You could do an audio product, a custom done software, a created script that does things differently… I’ve done all of these with reasonable amounts of success and have a few more ideas I’ll be outsourcing over the next few days.

The great thing about your own products is that you build a reputation - no matter what niche you’re in, if you show yourself to produce quality, people will buy from you. Again and again and again and again.

You also have the option of recruiting a horde of affiliates to sell your products, something you don’t have the option of as an affiliate (unless there are two tiers… but few opportunities like this exist these days). Get a good product with hot testimonials and a killer sales page (all of which can be outsourced), contact some of the big guns in your niche… and bang, you’re making money. Rinse, repeat x1000.

Of course, the problem with using your own products compared to affiliate marketing… is that you have to create the product yourself, which can be a lot of work. This used to be a problem, until…

PRIVATE LABEL RIGHTS.

Basically, private label right products are products that you can slap your name on, freely edit, sell at whatever price you want etc.

By purchasing a private label right product, you can quarter the amount of time it takes to have something with ‘your own name’ on it out on the market… spend a few hours (or less) rewriting it, add a bit of audio, hire some cheap graphic designer to create you unique graphics… and you have a product nowhere else on the Internet. One you can sell for profit, giveaway to build reputation… basically, do whatever you like with it.

Have you ever created your own product, if no - why not? I’d love to hear some views. Depending on how many people are interested in this kind of thing, I may take this further and offer a coaching opportunity or something similar. :)
