Win $150 And Various Other Prizes
Posted on February 5th, 2008 by Jason under ContestsYeah yeah, I know. I love you guys, and TUK is pretty cool at the moment. But I’ve found it getting a bit shall we say… static… it’s the same people commenting, and the same amount of RSSers for the past few weeks, and now it’s time to shake that up - sure, I could do the guest posting, and other such things to get readers and subscribers, but you see… that involves a fair bit of work, work that I just can’t be bothered to put in, being a university student and all.
How else could I drive the numbers of comments AND RSS subscribers up? Fairly simple - a contest. Sure, I could offer a whole lot of things, but the thing people like most is seeing cold, hard cash flooding into their Paypal account… cash I’ll be happy to dish out to improve the blog. If all goes well, I may even hold this every month, and better yet, increase the amount of cash you can win. I pay through Paypal, so if you don’t have it, get it.
What do I (that’s you) have to do to win?
Sure, I could ask for links, blog posts and all that… but that’s pretty overdone these days, and I know you guys are looking out for prizes that involve the least possible work on your part. Heck, you guys already comment on here… so why not stand the chance to win some cash doing so? A lot of you are RSS subscribers too, and those that aren’t, all you have to do is click a button… it’s time to win.
What’s up for grabs, and how you can win it:
- $75 in cash to a random commenter in the top commenters list. This can be checked at all times in the sidebar. EDIT - I’ve drawn the winner for this, and it’ll be revealed in a new post soon. You can still win $75.00 just by subscribing to the feed.
I like people that comment on TUK - there are a few spammers, but the majority of y’all contribute to the discussion, and now you can win some cash for doing so. At the end of February, I’ll pick a random number between 1-10 using Random.org and whoever it is will win the money straight through Paypal.
- $75 in cash to a random RSS subscriber.
Building RSS subscribers is one of the most important things for a new blog and whilst mine is passable at the moment at a bit above 100 readers, I know it should be a lot, lot more. I’m offering you an incentive to subscribe to my feed - at the end of the month, I’ll choose a random subscriber and send them $75. I’ll also have messages hidden in the feed that only subscribers will be able to see, and these will probably give away free goodies and stuff - you will need to subscribe by email, as that’s the only one I can confirm.
- All my Entrecard credits.I don’t really use them, and now I’m not going to. By the end of the month, I should have 1000+ of them, and I’ll give them all to a random reader - you can use them to get five days advertising on John Chow, or twenty days advertising on yours truly. Heck, flog them on eBay, it’s up to you
- Links, digital items and much much more
I have so much content sitting on my hard drive that I don’t know what to do with it… I’ll be giving some of that away at regular intervals, as well as mentions in a post and maybe even an ad spot in the sidebar or a link in the RSS feed for free during the contest. With my increased number of readers after the contest starts, you need to get in, now
Oh yeah - why am I having this contest? Well, I was challenged by a few others - namely Internet Babel, Thomas Sinfield, Slyvisions and Ian Fernando - whoever gets the most RSS subscribers in a month, wins a month free advertising on all the participants blogs. So if I nuke this contest (and I’m damn well going to), I get an 125 x 125 (and I’ll get a new one made just to gloat) on their blogs… pretty cool, eh? Just for the record, my current RSS count is 125… if I don’t double that by the end of this month, I’m declaring this a personal failure. I know I have a pretty good chance of doing so though, and with you guys helping me along the way, I’ll definitely reach that target.

Short, simple and to the point… it’s time for you to win. Just subscribe by email (or in an RSS reader if you only want to win the digital goodies) and start commenting… you can launch yourself in pole position today. Oh yeah - the blog is dofollow free, and so is the top commentators widget, meaning a PR3 backlink to your website as long as you’re on the front page. Who’s gonna be first? ![]()
If you enjoyed this post, make sure you subscribe to my RSS feed!

Awesome..!!
Am the first commentator .. to begin with
and… hey… 125 subscribers..!! When did you break the 100 mark? And hell.. you never told me?
Though… I’ll be on the lookout for that $75 in cash.. wish me luck… Jason
February 5th, 2008 at 5:21 pm
Jason-
Glad to see you are taking my challenge to you of 1000 RSS this year! This contest should easily double your readership. I come straight to the TUK site, but will officially drop my email into the RSS and support the cause.
Best of luck!

@ Hamza, I think I had a post on here. Sorry if I didn’t, give me your email (after subscribing
) and I’ll send you a picture of a bottle of champagne or something
@ Mark, you’re a pretty big reason I’m seriously promoting this blog… that and the money, of course
I know I can offer somewhat decent content, and this blog earns zilch compared to the work I put in on it… it’s time for all that to change, and this should be a great start
February 5th, 2008 at 6:33 pm
Geez, I am sure that your feed count will shoot past me with this massive contest.
I used to read your blog by visiting directly from my bookmarks but had subscribed to try my luck to win the prizes. As for top commentators ranking, I should admit that your readers here are crazy about commenting.
I will try my best to climb but as always, only on stuffs I have something to say…
I have high hopes on you and only subscribed to your blog. Win the traffic back home.

Jason,
I just wanted to say that I love what you have done with the website…
As you know, both you and I were scammed by the same person when we tried to sell our proxies!
I am glad you have stuck with your websites, because getting scammed, for me, made me quit everything you taught me about proxies, websites, etc…
I do hope to get back into it, reading everything you write is such an inspiration.
Good luck with your ventures, I know you will suceed. Most people (like me) will stop after they hit a bump in the road, but you haven’t, and that is why you will continue to prosper.
Anyways, enough of my rambling, glad that I came back to your website after a few months, it looks amazing!
